Coffee is makings its way in bath and body products these days! I am finding Coffee Soaps, Body Butters and lotions everywhere! Its no secret that it reduces redness and blemishes, helps with cellulite and stretch marks, and reduces scars. I actually had a special request for this type of soap from a family member, and I have a feeling it is going to be a new favorite for me!
- 2 lbs Goat Soap Base
- Soap Mold
- Coffee Essential Oil
- Metal Pan
- Glass Bowl (That fits in Metal Pan)
- Coffee Beans
The Goat Soap Base comes in a block, which can be easily cut into cubes (like cutting butter!) so to make it easier on myself, I used about 1/2 a block at a time. So what you are going to do is cut half of the block in cubes (they are already started for you, so its super easy) and put them in a glass bowl or glass measuring cup. You are going to set it in a pan with boiling water. (Or you could use a double broiler, but this method works the same.) You are going to melt the goat soap base until it is completely melted. Stirring along the way helps. I have seen others us a microwave but I find this prevents you from over-heating the goat soap.
When this is completely melted, add about 15-20 drops of coffee essential oil. I then added coffee grounds. When it came to this part, I wanted there to be a lot for exfoliating purposes, but just add about a tablespoon at a time until you have the desired amount.
Pour your mixture into your mold and allow to sit until it cools. It takes anywhere between 40 minutes to an hour.
What I LOVE about this mold is that its super easy to pop these soaps out! You should have been able to make 4 soaps with half a block.
When I used this soap for the first time, I was immediatly in heaven. I LOVED the lather, and the smell of course was unbeatable. I noticed a soft silky feeling to my hands, but not an oily feeling like other soaps leave behind. This will be my soap of choice for now on!
