I am quite positive I don’t need to write this Keto Taco Salad recipe up, but for all of my keto followers here is another low carb option for you! When making tacos, instead of putting them in a burrito or in a taco shell, put it on top of some lettuce and have a taco salad! I simply mixed up my taco meat, put it on salad, topped with cheese, salsa, sour cream, and VOILA! You could also add olives! (I didn’t have any, otherwise I totally would have!)
So I just wanted to share some of my favorite Keto tips that keep me going every day! So, a ketogenic diet trains your bodies metabolism to use your fatty acids and ketones as fuel. It is a very low carbohydrate (10%) moderate protein (20%) and high fat (70%) diet. So what are some tips to help you along your keto diet?
- Stay Hydrated! I have been drinking 1/2 of my body weight in water a day, at least. So, I like to drink at least 32oz of water in the morning after my keto coffee, since I dont typically eat breakfast.
- Eat Salt! A lot of times we are told to eat less salt, however on the keto diet that is not true. You want to make sure you are consuming the “good salts” — this would be your pink Himalayan salts, sea salt, etc. When you are on the keto diet, you have low insulin levels making our kidneys kick out more sodium, which can cause a lower sodium/potassium ratio. You can increase your salt intake by sprinkling pink salt on your foods, drinking organic broth, adding a bit of salt to your water or even eating cucumber or celery throughout the day, which are low carb but have natural sodium.
- Intermittent Fasting – I fast between 7pm and 11/12 the next day. However, I drink my Keto Coffee in the morning as it has natural grass fed butter in it and increases my ketone production kicking my body into ketosis.
- Exercise – I havent done full on gym yet, but I have been adding more movement to my day. Add some apps to your phone to keep you motivated!
