Its no secret that milk has some amazing skin health benefits! Its great for the treatment of acne, and also helps reduce blemishes and moisturize dry skin. I love making my own skin products, because I know that they really are all natural and healthy for your skin! We even used a honey that is made right here in Dell Rapids! Dell City Honey makes the best natural honey!
You will only need a few things to get started on this amazing recipe…
- Goat Milk Soap Base
- Honey (We used Dells City Honey)
- Soap Mold
- Pyrex 4-Cup Glass Measuring Cup,
- Soap Coloring
The Goat Soap Base comes in a block, which can be easily cut into cubes (like cutting butter!) so to make it easier on myself, I used about 1/2 a block at a time. So what you are going to do is cut half of the block in cubes (they are already started for you, so its super easy) and put them in a glass bowl or glass measuring cup. You are going to set it in a pan with boiling water. (Or you could use a double broiler, but this method works the same.) You are going to melt the goat soap base until it is completely melted. Stirring along the way helps. I have seen others us a microwave but I find this prevents you from over-heating the goat soap.
When its completely melted, stir in about 3 tablespoons of Honey and stir well. Add a few drops of yellow colorant and one drop of red colorant (to give it a Gold color) and stir well. Pour into your soap molds and allow to cool. Cooling usually takes about 30-40 minutes.
You can tell in the picture I got inpatient and started to remove them from the mold a little too early, so be patient and give it time to settle. When its completely cooled, remove gently from the molds and VOILA! You have an amazing soap to keep or give!
