Applewood Smoked Bacon Porkloin

For Christmas, I got Derek the Ninja Foodi Grill– but to be completely honest- I got it for myself! I am completely impressed with it and now I use it 5 out of 7 days a week! It is so convenient, and easy! The first recipe I made on the grill was the Applewood Smoked Bacon Pork Loin and it was PHENOMENAL! I have made Smithfield’s Applewood Smoked Bacon Porkloin in the oven, grill, etc, and it was great, but on the Foodi it was so moist and the flavor cooked through really well! The best part? It only takes about 12 minutes to cook!

What is the safe temperature for Pork?

The USDA used to recommend cooking pork tenderloin to an internal temperature of 160℉/71℃, but that has changed, thankfully.

The USDA now says that it is perfectly safe to eat pork that reaches 145℉/63℃ with a 3-minute rest time — with the exception of ground pork, which should be cooked to an internal temperature of 160℉/71℃.

Should I let my Pork Tenderloin Rest Before Slicing?

Absolutely! By letting the tenderloin rest at least 5 minutes, it allows the carryover heat to finish cooking the tenderloin to the target temp and is also allows the juices inside the meat to redistribute and be absorbed by the meat fibers, resulting in a juicier slice of meat!

Although the USDA recommends a 3 minute rest time, I always rest mine for about 10 minutes!

How to Make Applewood Bacon Bork Loin w/ Veggies

Ingredients Needed:

You will defiantly need a Ninja Foodi Grill!

  • Smithfield Applewood Bacon Pork Loin
  • Yellow Squash
  • Zuchinni
  • Onions
  • Red Peppers
  • Olive Oil
  • Minced Garlic
  • Salt
  • Pepper

So first you are going to preheat your Ninja Foodi Grill. Preheat on MAX heat with the grill grate on the grill. While it is preheating, cut your squash, zucchini, onions and pepper. Toss in a bowl with olive oil and minced garlic. You can also add some salt and pepper if you like!

When the grill is preheated, it will tell you to add food. Place the Applewood Smoked Bacon Porkloin on the grill and turn down to Medium. Place the vegetables around the loins. If using the integrated probe, I recommend setting it to 135℉/55℃ for the most tender and juiciest pork tenderloin. You will grill it for 12 minutes total- 6 minutes per side.

When the target temperature is reached (if you are using the integrated probe), the grill will turn off immediately and start the rest period countup. Remove the pork from the grill and place on a cutting board, but leave the probe in the meat. If you press the manual button the readout will change from timing the rest period to the temperature of the pork. Make sure your temperature gets to 145F/63℃- this typically takes about 5 minutes but I let it rest an additional 5. You can shorten your rest period, but once it hits 145℉ make sure to let it rest for 3 minutes longer according the FDA guidelines for food safety. Remove the vegetables, and serve!

Ingredients

  • Smithfield Applewood Bacon Pork Loin
  • Zucchini
  • Yellow Squash
  • Onions Chopped
  • Red Peppers Chopped
  • Olive Oil
  • Minced Garlic
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Let the pork tenderloin sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes prior to grill, but not longer than 1½ hours. During this time, cut your vegetables. Place in a bowl and add a little olive oil. Season with garlic, salt and pepper, toss.
  • Preheat the Ninja Foodi Grill on Max Grill. Plug the probe into the side of the grill and Insert the probe thermometer into the side of the meat in the middle where the thickest part of the tenderloin is (if using the integrated probe). When it is finished preheat and tells you to add the food, place the pork tenderloin in the grill. You can also add your veggies around it at this time!
  • Close the lid and decrease the temperature of the grill to medium grill. Set the pork preset or the manual probe function to your target temperature. carryover cooking will raise the final temperature by 10-15 degrees, so set your target temp at least 10 degrees less than you want the final temperature to be. I recommend setting the target temp at 135°F/55°C
  • When the grill prompts you to flip the tenderloin, flip it. The grill will shut off when the target temperature is reached. Remove the tenderloin and let rest on a cutting board. Make sure to leave the probe in the pork during the rest period to monitor the internal temperature and so the juices don't leak out. To switch from the rest period timer to the internal temperature on the XL grill, press the manual button and hold it down until you see the internal temperature of the meat on the display. Remove the vegetables.
  • Make sure the internal temperature reaches at least 145°F/63°C followed by a 3-minute rest period to meet the USDA safety recommendations for pork. I like mine to rest 10 minutes.
  • Remove the probe, slice and serve!
