DIY Dish Towels

Are you looking for a fun new project? Maybe some Gift Ideas? These easy and fun DIY Dish Towels are the perfect choice! They become extremely versatile as they are totally customizable, and cost efficient too!

Lets gather some supplies!

First you are going to choose your design. You can use pre-made designs from etsy or create your own handwriting style in the design software of you vinyl cutting machine.

Next, you are going to load your chosen iron-on vinyl into the cutting machine and set the cutting settings according to the vinyl type and your machines manual. However, all machines are different so you will want to check the recommended settings for your machine!

After, Upload and cut the vinyl.

As soon as your vinyl has completely finished cutting, use your weeding tool to remove everything you don’t want on your towel from your design.

Next, Place the weeded vinyl on your dish towel centering it. I like to iron out the towel first, but just make sure your fold it back up as if you were hanging it on your stove so you can center it correctly.

Next, Use a heat press or iron on the highest setting suitable for your vinyl, applying firm pressure for the recommended time to adhere the vinyl to the towel. Each vinyl manufacturer has a recommended heat time, for example Siser Easyweed is 10 – 15 seconds at 305 degrees F.

Important Notes:

  • Opt for 100% Cotton Dishtowels
  • Use Heat Transfer Vinyl designed for Fabric
  • Always use a protective sheet like parchment paper between your iron and design.
