Easy DIY Handmade Candles

One of my most favorite things that I make on my own is candles, and these Easy DIY Handmade Candles are exactly what they say, EASY! They are extremely easy and cost efficient, and can be a fun hobby! Because I go through so many candles, I have found that I save a lot of money just making my own! You can certainly get buy with using equipment and supplies from home, but I will list what products I use below!

Easy DIY Handmade Candles

So there are just a few things you will need for these Easy DIY Handmade Candles!

Instructions

The first thing you are going to do is heat the wax by putting it in a double boiler until completely melted, stirring occasionally.

While your wax is heating up, use a tiny bit of hot glue or a wick centering tool to adhere the wick to the bottom of your jar. I like to recycle jars around my house, from old candles to canning jars for my candles but I also love these ones!

Once your wax is melted, mix in your fragrance or essential oils into the wax. If you want the exact recommended ratio, I would start with 1 oz (28 grams) of fragrance per 1lb of wax. This would be considered a 6% fragrance load. If your using more than 1lb of wax, you can multiply by .6% or 0.06 to find out how much fragrance you need.

Then carefully pour your melted wax in your jars being mindful that the wick stays centered. You can use a popsicle stick with a hole in it to keep it centered with bobby pin to hold it in place, or use two popcicle sticks one on each side to keep it in place. You can also use a wick centering tool as well, but I find there are other ways that work just the same!

Last, you are going to want to let your candle cool and set. Let it cool completely before moving or handling. Then, you will trim the wick to desired height.

If you are giving your candles as a gift, consider getting these labels and printing fun sentiments! Anyone that knows me knows I am all for adult humor, so I like to make mine as funny and sarcastic as possible! Get creative!

Want some more fun idea? Try putting dried flowers such as lavender or rose petals in your candles!
